Served alongside a variety of condiments, french fries are a universal snack that brings joy to the taste buds of people around the globe. The origins of the french fry are still unclear, some believe they first cropped up in Germany, France or Belgium. They came to America in 1802, when Thomas Jefferson had the White House Chef, Frenchman Honore Julien, prepare potatoes served in the french manner for a dinner party. Today there is a museum in Belgium solely dedicated to the french fried potato.
